Alex Perez September 2026 Q&A #1: ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ ‘Secret Wars’ and More
In part 1 of our September 2026 Q&A with our Discord and Patreon members, Alex answers questions about upcoming Marvel Studios films Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, as well as about Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Champions/YoungAvengers!

Avengers: Doomsday
walker: A while ago you teased that Deadpool and Reed interact in Avengers: Doomsday, do you know if that’s still happening?
Alex Perez: The interaction, I believe, already leaked in the form of an image. We’ll just have to see if it plays out.
StressedJess: Hello, Alex! Thank you for this! Do you know what Namor’s dynamic with the Fantastic Four in Doomsday will be?
Alex Perez: Include Shuri and the Wakandans in that dynamic with them. And Sue’s experience in diplomatic relations with dignitaries will come in handy.
walker: Hey Alex, thanks as always for doing this. What can you say about Sue’s arc in Avengers: Doomsday?
Alex Perez: It’s a pleasure! Sue’s arc is a very interesting one to see develop. Mainly because Sue will be one of those few characters who’s going to have a personal relationship with Doom and will understand what his motivation is. And it’ll put her in the difficult position of trying to sympathize with her friend while also trying to protect her family.
CalmTitan: Hi Alex. Appreciate this as always! With the recent Doomsday reshoots being more focused on Sam Wilson, can you give some clues as to what was shot involving the character?
Alex Perez: It was an action sequence. It involves a character that in the last few days has made a resurgence in the rumor mill.
CalmTitan: My concern is that some characters’ abilities may be overlooked to highlight others. Brave New World significantly upgraded Sam Wilson’s kit with full vibranium, kinetic-energy-absorbing wings, and his helmet. Will any of these upgrades be forgotten or underutilized in Doomsday?
Alex Perez: They’re not going to be things that will be focused on in the movie, I’m afraid.
Astropologetic: What scene in Avengers: Doomsday do you think will leave people shocked and possibly in tears aside from the already obvious ones?
Alex Perez: What I can say is that Marvel pushes the envelope a lot in terms of what they’ve done before in the hopes of subverting audience expectations. Even if you’ve read “leaks,” there’s a very decent chance you’ll be surprised in the way the film executes what’s being done come December.
aspksss: There have been rumors (I’m not sure where they originated) that the The Ancient One and Death are actually two of the Latverian witches. I really hope that isn’t the case, because personally, I don’t find it very logical. Back in April, you hinted that Wanda was one of the masked Latverian witches. Could you give us a hint about who else might be hiding behind the witches’ masks?
Alex Perez: So The Ancient One and Death are definitely not the Latverian Witches. Aside from the fact that the Ancient One is dead, Death simply doesn’t care, and she’d never willingly serve under someone. As for a hint under the identity of the Latverian witches, most of their identities have technically already been revealed. But I think it’s very important for people to remember that these witches (like most) have a very specific ability, like most covens have. Could be divination, could be blood magic, could be earth magic, could be alchemy, could be dark magic. Who’s to say that these witches are who they say they are and aren’t actually just playing a very elaborate trick?
Jay: We know that we’ll be seeing an older Franklin in Avengers: Doomsday. Are we getting a multi-year timeskip in the middle of the film, or is his growth going to be accelerated via magic (I.e., Billy & Tommy)?
Alex Perez: Haven’t heard a single thing about the older Franklin (13 y/o).
Avengers: Secret Wars
lilm3gan: Is Marvel really going to ignore Captain Marvel and Tom Holland as leads for Secret Wars for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man?
Alex Perez: There’s been a lot of talk that the leads for Secret Wars are Wolverine and Tobey’s Spider-Man. There is no ignored lead. And there is no “just one lead or focus.” If the Russos know what to do, it’s how to balance these characters. Trust.
chance3225: There’s rumors that Secret Wars will have some characters brainwashed as Barons; do you know which characters will be Barons?
Alex Perez: I have heard some names. Look to the 2016 Hickman run for clues.

pin: Is Agatha Harkness going to be in Avengers: Secret Wars or has she been sidelined for the time being?
Alex Perez: I heard a rumor about Agatha being in the movie as a companion, but we’ll find out if that’s the case later on when they start filming soon.
laser_gum: For Avengers: Secret Wars, do you think we will get a reaction from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Rhodey, and other characters to Doctor Doom’s face being the face of their old friend?
Alex Perez: Too early to tell.
Michael: At the end of Avengers: Secret Wars, do you think the restored/restarted universe will be some type of hybrid/fusion between an entirely new reality and the current MCU? It would be an interesting direction to instead of restoring the current MCU (see the Arrowverse after Crisis on Infinite Earths) and a completely new world, with certain continuing characters remaining the same (look at Peacemaker season 1 and 2 to better illustrate the latter point).
Alex Perez: I think that would be a very likely possibility. At least it will be that way for some characters.
Michael: When we eventually see Thanos in Avengers: Secret Wars, will it be the 2018 version (who got off relatively lightly at the beginning of Endgame) or a variant we haven’t seen before (ex. King Thanos)?
Alex Perez: IF he’s in the movie, chances are it’s a variant.
Black Panther
chance3225: Do you know how they will explain T’Challa Jr. suddenly being in his mid-20’s?
Alex Perez: Universe-reshaping shenanigans.
Captain Marvel
lilm3gan: In a personal opinion, do you believe a Captain Marvel 3 is possible after Secret Wars (if Carol doesn’t die in Secret Wars); hopefully diving into the Rogue vs. Captain Marvel storyline?
Alex Perez: I think it’s possible.
Champions/Young Avengers
YAH: Hi Alex! Do you still think we get a Champions project?
Alex Perez: Yes. It’s coming. And when we get VisionQuest, you’ll see the Vision (and the vision).
YAH: Do you think Billy will get a chance to shine in Avengers: Secret Wars?
Alex Perez: Yes. For sure.
RedGyarados2010: Hi Alex! Will the Champions lineup include anyone that wasn’t in the leaked concept art?
Alex Perez: Definitely.
Titan: Do you know if there’s any truth to the rumor that Marvel is considering turning Champions and/or Strange Academy into films?
Alex Perez: I’ve heard about it, and it’s certainly far more plausible, but if they really want to allow the individual characters to shine with their own personal stories, then a TV format would be better.
