The Ahsoka season 1 finale gave us so many memorable and moving Star Wars moments, but definitely left fans with a lot of questions. This season has been full of incredible storytelling. I was so blown away by everything Dave Filoni put into this show and I can’t wait to see more.
[Warning: Spoilers ahead for Ahsoka season 1!]
The finale of Ahsoka season 1 on Disney+
A lot happened in the final episode so let’s talk about a few of the highlights.
Ezra is finally home! The search can stop! Eman Esfandi was incredible as Ezra Bridger. Esfandi truly embodied the character and his performance showed that he did his research. Now that Ezra has been reunited with Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) he will be a great addition to the New Republic and their effort to bring down Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).
I hope we get to see Ezra reconnect with Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) since they worked together during Rebels. I also hope Leia is cast soon so fans can see them together again as well. Both Leia and Ezra have the same type of stubborn, sneaky personality so to see them plan against Thrawn as adults would be something else.
I do wish the reunion between Hera and Ezra was longer and more than just them walking toward each other. Ezra was like a son to Hera and when he left she was just as upset as Sabine. It felt like we got cheated out of a moment that was five years in the making.
We also finally saw that Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) is Force-sensitive. For a long time, I’ve had a feeling that Sabine was the first Mandalorian-Jedi since Tarre Vizsla, the creator of the Dark Saber. Ever since she took the Dark Saber from Maul and Kanan began training her, there was just something about the situation that felt different.
It was very obvious from episode three that Sabine would end up being able to wield the Force. The moment her lightsaber flew to her hand was so satisfying. I cheered for Sabine because it felt like she made herself and Kanan proud.
I’m very interested to see what will happen with Baylan (Ray Stevenson) and Shin (Ivanna Sakhno). They took their separate paths, Baylan to find the beginning of the Jedi and Shin to lead and take her place in the Empire.
Shin didn’t make it off the planet with Thrawn, instead, she went to lead the group of raiders. It will be interesting to see if she is still hunting Ahsoka and Sabine next season or if her main focus will be survival.
Baylan’s last scene was one of the most exciting moments and paralleled Anakin in the Mortis arc in The Clone Wars. He was standing on the hand of the Father with the Son next to him. The Daughter was missing which makes me wonder if her statue crumbled the day she gave Ahsoka her Life Force.
Hopefully, Baylan’s mission will be explored in season two and we can see who the new Mortis gods are and what balance in the Force looks like post-Palpatine and Darth Vader.
Looking forward to Ahsoka season 2
According to Deadline a season two of Ahsoka is likely happening though nothing is confirmed yet. With the WGA strike over I’m sure Filoni will be writing more soon since Ahsoka is connected to his Heir to the Empire film.
Now that Ahsoka, Sabine, Shin, and Baylan are stranded on Peridea and Thrawn is hiding out on Dathomir with the Great Mothers, what now? They have a course plotted for Peridea, Hera and Ezra will most likely come to rescue them. Ahsoka said it’s time to move on. I think she meant that now this mission is over, they need to move on to the next step. Getting back and taking Thrawn down before it’s too late.
For Thrawn, hiding out on Dathomir, which has been empty for years, with the Great Mothers is the best move. The Great Mothers can protect him there and no one would dare come to Dathomir.
There is also the cargo Thrawn took from Peridea that is still a mystery. Could it be for a weapon he’s building? Is it old relics of the Jedi? Thrawn has a reason for everything he does, so what he took wasn’t just random treasure. Once this is uncovered it will surely be a threat to the galaxy.

I hope we see more of Anakin’s Force ghost to guide them. Having Hayden Christensen back in Star Wars for the last two years has been a gift. This also means there is a possibility Kanan’s Force ghost could appear for Sabine. She did almost see Anakin, so the more connected she becomes with the Force the more we have a chance to see live-action Kanan in Ahsoka season two. There were a lot of elements Dave Filoni added from Legends, like the zombie troopers, and I don’t think he’ll shy away from adding more.
I believe the next addition from Legends could be Abeloth. Abeloth, also the Bringer of Chaos, is the main villain in the Legends book Fate of the Jedi where she drove young Jedi Knights to madness. Luke and his son Ben go on a journey to find out why his nephew, Jacen, almost turned to the dark side and eventually have a run-in with Abeloth. To avoid death and being found she hides herself in different bodies. Eventually, Luke discovers this and Abeloth runs back to her home world. The only weapon that can truly kill her is the Dagger of Mortis.
It seems obvious that Abeloth would be on Peridea. She is part of the Mortis gods but she is mortal unlike the other three. If Ahsoka, Sabine, and Shin go looking for Baylan, they might come across Abeloth.
