The stars hit the green and purple carpets last night in Los Angeles for the world premiere and launch event of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The El Capitan Theater, “Disney’s Home on Hollywood Boulevard,” was done up with a faux smashed-brick wall. Those at the premiere also took turns posing on a green bench with a law firm advertisement with Tatiana Masalny’s She-Hulk featuring prominently.

Critics received screeners for the series’ first four episodes earlier this month. With the event at the El Capitan, the social embargo has lifted, and we’re not seeing some first reactions from the world. We curated some of the most interesting reactions to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law from around Twitter.
The good of She-Hulk first reactions:
“…a slow burner, but the show grows stronger with every installment.” – Yasmine Kandil
I’ll start out my thoughts on #SheHulk by saying Tatiana Maslany as Jen Walters is an absolute revelation. The first episode is a bit of a slow burner, but the show grows stronger with every instalment. The mid credit scenes are perhaps the most amusing ones in Marvel history. pic.twitter.com/qHz7NRGGcN

“…breezy, unabashedly weird, and wildly entertaining.” – Jenna Anderson
I’ve now seen the first four #SheHulk episodes three times, and they’re everything I want them to be, and so much more. The show is breezy, unabashedly weird, and wildly entertaining. This sets a new gold standard for what MCU shows are capable of. pic.twitter.com/4Z8jAe293L

“Tatiana Maslany is so much fun to watch as Jennifer Walters…” – Maryam Ahmad
I got to see #SheHulk Episodes 1-4!!! I am going in pretty blind with regards to comic history, but I really liked it! Tatiana Maslany is so much fun to watch as Jennifer Walters, and the supporting cast is great too! (1/3) pic.twitter.com/ZF7Va9Zq9b

“…simply stellar.” – Elijah Boxhill
#SheHulk is simply stellar. It starts off fast, really fast, but as it went on it grew on me, and is easily one of my favorite MCU shows. The setting is pretty grounded but it does a great job at establishing itself in the MCU in a way that’s both respectful to the MCU, 1/2 pic.twitter.com/NCJPM1D5Le

“If you like comedy and want to know more about how the MCU operates on a day-to-day level, #SheHulk is for you.” – Julia Debel
If you like comedy and want to know more about how the MCU hero business operates on a day-to-day level, #SheHulk is for you!
If you unironically use the term "M-She-U" and take this franchise way too seriously the show won't be for you (it gloriously mocks THOSE kinds of fans). pic.twitter.com/vwGhrqDtCt

“… fun, genuinely humorous and human.” – Richard Newby
She-Hulk is very fun, genuinely humorous and human. Really finds itself in 3rd ep. No major surprises or huge stakes but Maslany is immensely likable. The memes and thirst posts this show will inspire though…lmao ?Credits tag in every episode. Effects look good. #SheHulk pic.twitter.com/ycKseOOLSa

“…wildly entertaining.” – Tristian Evans
I’ve watched the first four episodes of #SheHulk and they’re wildly entertaining. I don’t think we’ve ever had a MCU show quite like this, but it’s a welcome change. Tatiana Maslany is charming and funny. #SheHulkAttorneyAtLaw

“Tatiana Maslany is the perfect fit for the MCU.” – Ricky Valero
#SheHulk is a blast. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a Marvel series yet. Tatiana Maslany is the perfect fit for the MCU.
I love what I've seen through four and think you will too. #SheHulkAttorneyAtLaw @MarvelStudios pic.twitter.com/MQYlsBEt2M

“…a shaky start but quickly finds its footing.” – Michael Lee
#SheHulk has a shaky start but quickly finds it’s footing. Marvel’s latest is much more than a legal show seen through the lens of Marvel. It’s a meta comedy that explores the hilarious legal ramifications being a superhero & supervillain on a trial of the week basis. pic.twitter.com/vTm3PqR1WE

“Tatiana Maslany is home run casting…” – POC Culture
Tatiana Maslany is another home run casting as #JenniferWalters. She’s a great lead & does an amazing job showing the dual life of a superhero lawyer. @gingerthejester is awesome as #SheHulk’s BFF Nikki Ramos. She brings so much infectious energy to every scene. #Marvel @Marvel pic.twitter.com/9YumtSejz6

“…once you settle in to the tone, it’s such a fun watch.” – Joshua Ryan
My #SheHulk viewing experience went like this:
Ep 1: I'm not on board.
Ep 2: I'm coming around.
Ep. 3: Okay, I love it.
Ep 4: Is this my favorite MCU show? The first episode is mostly filler, but once you settle in to the tone, it's such a fun watch.#MarvelStudios #DisneyPlus pic.twitter.com/gCXfLWUWZA

“…a slow building start, however the humor is top tier MCU…” – TJ Zwarych
I had a blast watching the first 4 episodes of #SheHulkAttorneyAtLaw . The origin nature leads to a slow building start, however the humor is top tier MCU and the acting performances, led by Tatiana Maslany, are incredible. I love these characters & can’t wait for more! #SheHulk pic.twitter.com/0I2nVVlY5J

The not so good of She-Hulk first reactions:
While there were a ton of positive reactions to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, some had other feelings about the superhero law show. We’ve highlighted some with specific criticisms…
“…oh baby is that CGI unsettling.” – Maxance Vincent

“…this MCU lawyer comedy loses its case.” – Rendy Jones
I watched the first four episodes of #SheHulk and oof. Tatiana Maslany is giving her all but amid the unfinished CG and the lack of structure, this MCU lawyer comedy loses its case. It wants to be Fleabag so bad with its fourth wall breaks but bares no personality whatsoever.
— Rendy (@rendy_jones) August 16, 2022
“…sadly being a bad ABC sitcom isn’t enough.” – Griffin Schiller
For a sitcom, it's not all that funny. Gags feel like boardroom mandates, legacy MCU characters feel dumbed down for comedic effect, it's silly & self aware, but you can't have your cake & eat it to by calling out a cameo craze your studio invented & perpetuated. #SheHulk pic.twitter.com/0imba3EjjJ

But don’t rest your case yet on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law!
Long-form reviews from critics will start trickling out on Wednesday and over the next few days. We’ll have our own reactions here at The Cosmic Circus too.

While you’re waiting, check out some of our great features as we gear up for the show. Vin wrote a detailed comic reading guide for She-Hulk. You can read up on Jen Walters and her life between the comic pages from issues between 2004-2022 or go back a bit and read about her from 1980-2004.
I also did some theorizing about a potential musical episode featuring a mega-talented recording artist that we reported on. You can read all of our She-Hulk: Attorney at Law coverage here.
