Avengers: Doomsday

daofeiboy: Did Strange become entangled with Victor via Clea?

Alex Perez: We’ll likely learn about Strange’s journey in Avengers: Secret Wars.

walker (or rayne): Is Doom the emotional protagonist of Doomsday? Is there a character who unexpectedly emerges as one of the emotional standouts of Doomsday?

Alex Perez: A good comparison would be the way Thanos was the emotional protagonist of Infinity War. Doom, Steve, and Thor are essentially the main emotional “protagonists” in Avengers: Doomsday. But most of the cast will have their own standout emotional moments in the film as well.

chance32252: Hey Alex. Outside of cannons in Talokan, what’s going on with the desert crew in Avengers: Doomsday? Who will be apart of the Avengers: Doomsday 3rd act final battle?

Alex Perez: There are some uneasy tensions between Wakanda and Talokan that are still stirring since the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Those negotiations will reach fever pitch in Doomsday with a tense diplomatic meeting between Wakanda and Talokan featuring Sue, Ben, Bucky, Ghost, Walker, and Falcon (seen in the trailer).

We’ll refrain from sharing any 3rd act spoilers for Doomsday.

StressedJess: Hello again, Alex and Lizzie! There’s a rumor Gambit flirts with Yelena. Are there any other characters that get a flirty plotline? Namor has been noticeably absent in the team merch and promo. Is this a sign he’s joining team Doom?

Alex Perez: Gambit and Yelena will be in a number of scenes together, probably sarcastic banter rather than flirting. Namor is not a part of Team Doom in Doomsday.

Michael: Hi Alex and Lizzie! Are you able to tell us more about how Avengers: Doomsday will recontextualize the events of No Way Home?

Alex Perez: Firstly, Tom Holland is not in Doomsday at the moment. There will also be limited recontextualization of No Way Home other than the continuation of Doctor Strange’s multiversal story.

Falcon and Captain America
Falcon (Danny Ramirez) and Captain America (Anthony Mackie) in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ (Marvel Studios)

CalmTitan: Hey Alex & Lizzie! We’ve seen Cap do some extraordinary things in his solo movie (knocking out Rulk, enduring incredible impacts, and slicing wings off jets at Mach speed). Can we expect similarly impressive feats in Doomsday, particularly when he’s going up against characters with actual superpowers?

One of Sam’s greatest strengths has always been his ability to think on his feet and outsmart opponents who are physically stronger than him. Does Doomsday showcase his tactical ingenuity, particularly during the Avengers vs. X-Men confrontation, or is the action more focused on spectacle?

Alex Perez: Sam is going to have multiple fight scenes in Doomsday, during at least 3 action sequences in the film. He will certainly get his moments to shine as Captain America. Also, the film makes it clear. Even though Steve Rogers returns, he’s just Steve. Captain America is Sam Wilson. Plain and simple.

aspksss: Hi, Alex and Lizzie, thank you so much for doing that! Rumors recently surfaced about Sandra Hüller being cast as the Latverian Witch, along with other actresses. Is it true that they’re real witches and Marvel is playing a prank on us so that we think that these are our favorite/already familiar, well-known characters?

Alex Perez: Some of the witches appear to be people we already know and love, as rumors have stated. The Green Witch still seems to be TBD. As previously stated, all the witches were shot with doubles throughout the duration of filming.

Nngala: Hey Alex and Lizzie, thanks for doing these, it’s deeply appreciated! Will the TVA crew that we see in the encore post credit scene return in Avengers: Doomsday even if it’s for just a small cameo?

David Harbour at a recent convention described the ending of Doomsday as “trippy” and that it differentiates itself from the ending of Infinity War. Could you give us any more context as to why he chose that specific wording?

Alex Perez: As public rumors stated, some of that TVA crew may return in Doomsday at some point. We’ll have to see. As for the ending of Doomsday, I would recommend checking out Secret Wars (2015) issue #1 for context on what to expect.

NinjolasNJM: Hi Alex and Lizzie! Thx a lot for opening it up! If the X-Mansion battle we see in all the promos in Doomsday is the climax of the fakeout ending you talked about before, what will the second climax consist of?

Alex Perez: The X-Mansion battle is not an ending; it is the first meeting of the X-Men and the group from Earth’s 616 and 828. There is no “fakeout ending” in the 2nd act as well, and the climax of the movie will be definitive.

cal: Hi! You guys rock. In Doomsday will Mystique be used to give us some quick cameos (maybe Storm or Jean etc)?

Alex Perez: At the moment it just seems to be Yelena. It is unlikely to see someone like Storm or Jean in this particular movie, barring any re-used footage for flashbacks.

Avengers: Secret Wars

daofeiboy: Ayo, thanks once more If Secret Wars happens to get delayed—is there any possibility of a film releasing in between this time span?

Alex Perez: No, there is no film releasing between Doomsday and Secret Wars barring some monumental change from Marvel Studios.

Docamazone4: Hi Alex and Lizzie ! Thanks for doing this ! Is there any chance that Sam Sterns show up in Doomsday and/or Secret Wars since he knows a lot about the multiverse and the incursions?

Alex Perez: Samuel Sterns will not be appearing in Doomsday. He’ll still be locked up in the Raft.

Friendly Neighborhood Nerd: Hey Alex! Thanks for the continuous teases towards MCU content! My question was how big can we logically expect Secret Wars to be? Could we expect/is it possible there could be characters from the Marvel TV side in the lineup like Legion or The Runaways, for instance?

Alex Perez: There’s no doubt Marvel Studios is working to make this one of the biggest cinematic pieces ever, with cameo galore left and right. But it’s important to note that these “cameos” aren’t being done for cheap applause, but are meant to contribute to the overall story of our characters. Think about how Frigga, the Ancient One, and Howard Stark were utilized in Avengers: Endgame.

Also, in regards to TV, while I have no current knowledge on that front, the most I would expect from the TV side of things is characters from the Daredevil/Defenderverse that have appeared under the MCU titles, nothing outside of that.

After Secret Wars…

laser_gum: What other shows could we be getting post Secret Wars? Because I know they want to lessen the amount they do. Who do you think will be on the new Avengers team post Secret Wars?

Alex Perez: Marvel is evaluating all of their options for their upcoming titles on Disney+. Disney doesn’t want them to reduce their outputs because then they’d lose a huge chunk of their subscribers, but they also don’t want shows that are meant to be the equivalent of a Marvel movie in terms of spectacle and CGI-heavy.

So right now, while I don’t have specific titles, the type of shows they are looking to do involve grounded live-action series, which are cost-effective in terms of production, as well as animated series to explore several IPs that may not necessarily translate well on live-action. I do know they have thrown around the idea of an anime Marvel project, but no specific character has been attached to it yet.

qncycharles: After Secret Wars, do you see the reset MCU consolidation? Cosmic side has its bubble, supernatural side, and street level side until a major crossover event?

Alex Perez: I think it’s certainly plausible. At least that’s what Kevin Feige wanted to do for the Multiverse Saga, but higher management pushed for more interconnectivity and ruined the original plans he had in store.

Manglor: Do you think Marvel’s overall approach for the next sagas television projects will be to sort of combine the relative straightforwardness, level of output, and non-essential nature of the shows of the Infinity Saga with a bit more variety & story directions and with somewhat stronger connections to the films via characters & details akin to the Multiverse Sagas shows?

Alex Perez: I’m not sure at the moment.

lilm3gan: Who do you think will be our new Avengers leads after Secret Wars?

Alex Perez: Too early to tell.

Black Panther 3

DarthHalen: Hello!! There’s a rumor going around that Ka-Zar and the Savage Land could appear in BP III… any truth to that? There were those hints at BP III also being heavily mystical; if that’s true, could we possibly see Brother Voodoo show up? Or could he pop up somewhere else? Thanks again!

Alex Perez: There have been discussions about the Savage Land, but not necessarily for Black Panther 3. In regards to Brother Voodoo, there are possibilities to introduce him for sure, although not certain about Black Panther 3.

Blade

theo1507: Has there been any discussion on reviving Blade? I am sure it stung them to lose out on working with Mahershala Ali.

Alex Perez: There have been talks regarding the future of Blade and what that would look like both with and without Mahershala.

Slava: Hey, guys, Can you, please, summarize what happened with the Blade movie, what went wrong behind the scenes?

Alex Perez: To summarize, a lot of studio politics. Push and pull, back and forth between Disney execs, Marvel execs, writers, and Mahershala. Lots of people pulling in their own direction; no one really getting anywhere and nothing getting done. It’s not necessarily one person’s fault or one particular falling out. It’s just that this constant back and forth with very little to no traction costs studios and actors money with no income; it halts people from working on other things, so they just left it alone.

Captain Marvel / The Marvels

lilm3gan: Thank you! What’s next for The Marvels?

Alex Perez: They’ll reunite soon. It’s one of the few storylines that’ll get a resolution come Secret Wars.

Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and Photon (Teyonah Parris) in 'The Marvels'

Champions / Young Avengers

Titan: Hi Alex and Lizzie! What’s happening with the Champions show? Is it coming? Are they safe?

Alex Perez: The Champions will be getting their own project. And I reiterate, VisionQuest will set up the possible avenue for which they’ll return.
