This year’s San Diego Comic-Con is once again virtual. Both Marvel* and DC films are skipping the event, but there are still some things lined up that’ll make it worth your time to put on your sweatpants, sit on your couch, and zoom in.

The Fun Stuff:

Friday, July 23

“New asset drops” is promised in the panel description, and it gets my spidey-sense tingling.

I’m hoping we’ll hear more about the recently announced prequel film trilogy for The Wheel of Time as well. Thor writer Zach Stentz is working on the scripts. There have been a ton of image leaks from the sets in the past few months but now seem to be building towards something more official.

Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll learn more about Season 3 of The Boys and get more coverage from the oh-so creepy Vought News Network

Saturday, July 24

The CW’s alien drama Roswell, New Mexico is heading into the third season, and things look like they’re going to stay twisty. Last season ended with the reveal of Max’s mountain-man doppelgänger. Hopefully, we’ll get some answers about what’s going on and what we can expect from the next season.

It’s been 11 years since the series ended, and it’s super-exciting to have most of the cast in one place. Is this panel a way of testing the waters for a Stargate: Atlantis movie on a streamer? Or maybe even gauging interest a revival since IP owner MGM was just bought by Amazon? When the show was canceled in 2009 by SyFy, the TV world looked very different.

Sunday, July 25

The panel description teases a special guest. Could it be the 14th and yet to be announced, Doctor? Rumors have Olly Alexander assuming that mantle, but nothing has been officially announced, and Jodie Whittaker’s departure is not a given.

Parting Thoughts…

Alligator Loki in Marvel Studios’ LOKI, exclusively on Disney+.

And after all of that, look at the bright side: You’ve got another year to work on your alligator Loki costume before you show it off in person at SDCC 2022.

While Marvel doesn’t have a film or TV presence at this year’s SDCC, but Loki executive producer and director Kate Herron will be speaking on a Women in Film Panel called “Women Rocking Hollywood.” You can be sure there will be some questions about the show and Loki’s future. Bonus awesome: Christina M. Kim, from CW’s Kung Fu, is on the same panel, as well as CODA’s Sian HederQueen Sugar’s Shaz Bennet, and WIF’s Ebony Adams. Check it out on Saturday, 7/24/21 at 2–3 pm EST.
