2025 will be a momentous year for Star Wars, with the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith and it being the 10th anniversary of The Force Awakens means there’s a lot in store for the franchise. Not just to celebrate those movies but also for other eras, there is plenty to look forward to. Read on to see what new projects and stories we can expect to see from Star Wars in 2025!
Star Wars series arriving in 2025
The final episodes of Skeleton Crew will be our first project for the year, airing on the 7th and 14th January respectively. The show has been very well received so far, with glowing reviews, and has hit 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The last two episodes will bring the kids back to At Attin to face off against the betrayer Jod and his pirate crew in what hopes to be an amazing finale.
Andor Season 2 will release on April 22nd and is set to be one of the most hyped Star Wars series in a long time. The 12-episode season will take place roughly a year after the events of the first season with the show jumping ahead one year every 3 episodes, taking us right until the beginning of Rogue One and the end of Cassian Andor. All the main cast will be returning, such as Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael.
New for the show but not new to Star Wars, Andor season 2 will re-introduce us to K-2SO (Played by Alan Tudyk) and Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) who first appeared in Rogue One but will play roles in season 2 of Andor as the show fleshes out Cassian’s journey into being the rebel hero we have known. We don’t know much about the plot for the second season, and the only footage we have seen to date is a short teaser from a Disney+ sizzle reel for the year. However, we can expect the show to hopefully be as grand, political, and amazing as the first season and bring us more into the wider rebellion as it picks up traction across the galaxy.
A third season of Star Wars: Visions was announced last year, whilst it has no date, Star Wars states it will be released sometime in 2025. The show returns to its anime roots with nine new shorts from famous Japanese anime houses set to thrill fans. The first 2 seasons of Visions are some amazing work. They really took the themes and ideals from the franchise and gave us beautifully animated short tales that set the mind wandering and left fans wanting more! The third season of Visions will see the return of some contributors from other seasons, and we may get sequels to popular shorts, or it may be a whole new batch of stories. Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see what comes next for the series.
The second part of season 2 of Young Jedi Adventures will also be released this year. It has been over a year since the second season began. The show, aimed at preschoolers (but can be enjoyed by all) is set during the High Republic era and follows 3 Jedi younglings learning to become the best Jedi they can be with tales and adventures. Some characters from the High Republic books have also made appearances in the show, so time will tell if this will continue!
And on a final note, whilst not releasing this year, Ahsoka season 2 will gear up for filming later in the year, so we may get some news or even tidbits of information about what the second season may hold.

Star Wars video games releasing in 2025
It is an incredibly light year for Star Wars video games this year, we are still waiting for updates on those previously announced like the remake of Knights of The Old Republic and Star Wars: Eclipse which is set in the High Republic era. However, there are a couple of gaming adventures to be had this year:
January will see another remaster from Aspyr as they bring us Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000, the game sees players battle their way through events and planets from The Phantom Menace as they take on a variety of bosses and characters. Players will be able to play with a whole host of Jedi (and villains) as well as new unlockable ones for the game. The remaster will bring features from the old game along with cheats, whilst also bringing updated features and better graphics for players. Jedi Power Battles Remastered releases on January 23rd!
Star Wars: Outlaws was the underrated gem of 2024, when a rocky start to its release Outlaws failed to win over some fans, and fans who had become frustrated with Ubisoft. But with several updates since then, changing the game for the better, and one DLC already released, now is the perfect time to get into the game. “A Pirates Fortune” will be the second story pack for Outlaws, bringing Kay Vess face to face with Hondo Ohnaka who makes his first appearance back in the franchise since Star Wars Rebels (not including seeing him at Galaxy’s Edge) not else much is known about the DLC but with it not having a proper release date, we could expect a new planet to explore or even a fully fleshed out story that spans several planets as they take their time with the Story. A Pirates Fortune is expected sometime in ‘Spring 2025’.

The end of The High Republic in 2025
After four years and many books, comics, video game mentions and TV shows set in the era, The High Republic multimedia publishing initiative comes to an end. Phase 3 has dominated the landscape for Star Wars books and comics for over a year now, a more spread out phase to give readers a chance to catch up will all come to an end later in the year with what is set to be a final battle on the grandest scale.
While we know little of the synopsis of these final books, the ending begins how it started with the authors who kicked off The High Republic coming back to end it, subsequently taking on their final books. Claudia Gray returns to the young adult genre with her final book Into the Light set for release on April 1st, from the revealed cover we can see it will focus on Reath Silas and the Blight, who have been big deals in phase 3. Justina Ireland returns with her final junior novel A Valiant Vow set for release on May 6th. Again from the released cover, we can see Imri Canraros and Tep-Tep dealing with lots of Nihil Scav Droids but not a lot else is known.
Charles Soule will bring us the closing book to The High Republic era, the last adult book and arguably the most important. Trials of the Jedi will be released on June 17th, there is no cover yet and no proper synopsis outside of “The Star Wars High Republic Story concludes, as the Jedi face off against the Nihil and Marchion Ro”. Knowing so little about these final novels brings a lot of tension and excitement as we look forward to seeing how everything will end and how it will affect the Jedi.
There is more from the finale of The High Republic, Cavan Scott returns with his last ever Marvel High Republic comic run, which will follow on from the events of Tempest Breaker, the audio drama that was released in December 2024. Subtitled Fear of the Jedi the five-issue series begins February 19th and will bring readers the conclusion to the journey of Keeve Trennis and Lourna Dee.
Dark Horse has several series wrapping up over the first few months of 2025 also, such as the ongoing High Republic Adventures written by Daniel Jose Older, Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone which deals with short stories from characters from across the High Republic, as well as Echoes of Fear by George Mann which deals with the Jedi searching for a way to control the Nameless and the Blight.
There will also be a few one-shot comics featuring some of the lesser-known characters of the era. High Republic Adventures Phase 3 Annual will be released on January 29th, and will feature short stories from a whole host of characters, including Vernestra Rwoh. The Battle of Eriadu one shot by Alyssa Wong will be released on April 30th and will be a part of the climax of the High Republic Adventures series.
Finally, the High Republic Manga The Edge of Balance will get its final volumes. Premonition, which features Jedi Master Yoda, will be released on April 8th, and the final manga, Volume 4, will be released on April 22nd. It will be a huge final few months for The High Republic and many fans will be looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Star Wars books releasing in 2025
As well as books from The High Republic there are also several other Star Wars books releasing this year, taking readers to different eras of the franchise.
Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, is the first in a new trilogy. The Mask of Fear is set for release on February 25th and is written by Alexander Freed. The book is set during the first few months after the events of Revenge of the Sith as the Empire finds its feet and the aftermath of the Clone Wars takes a toll. The Mask of Fear will mainly follow Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Saw Gerrera as they each find their footing in this new galaxy and how best they can combat the Empire and the Emperor from taking control of everyone and everything. The book is hailed as being for fans of Andor, so we can see that it will hopefully bring the level of political intrigue the show is famous for. The rest of the trilogy, written by different authors respectively, is set for release in early 2026 and 2027.
The Acolyte: Wayseeker is written by Justina Ireland and is also set for release on the same day as her High Republic book, May 6th. Despite The Acolyte’s cancellation last year, the franchise will live on, at least in prequel books. Wayseeker is set a few years before the show and will follow Vernestra Rwoh who, for the last decade, has been exploring the outer rim. She is called back by Jedi Master Indara to help with a case on Coruscant, Vernestra is pulled back into the world of politics and the underworld, becoming more and more the character we see in the show.
The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is written by Tessa Gratton and is set for release July 29th, this will be a young adult book and will follow Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon who take part in a planet-wide coming-of-age ritual, that goes wrong and they are forced to work together to set things right.
The Acolyte will also get its own Visual Guide, set for release on June 17th as well as an Art Book for the season set for release October 7th.
Star Wars: Sanctuary hasn’t actually been officially announced, but it leaked early on the UK site for Star Wars books. It was revealed it will be a Bad Batch novel written by Lamar Giles and will be released on August 5th. It will be interesting to see when this book is set in the timeline for the Bad Batch and what will occur!

Star Wars comics in 2025
With the mainline comics, Star Wars, and Darth Vader finishing up last year after their 50th issues, Star Wars comics will take a bit of a quieter year. But there is still plenty to look forward to!
Star Wars: Legacy of Vader is the first of the new ongoing comics for the franchise, the series, penned by Charles Soule, will follow Kylo Ren between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker as he follows in the footsteps of his grandfather Darth Vader. Kylo will try to unlock the secrets of his family’s past, leading him to familiar planets and potentially familiar characters. Legacy of Vader #1 will arrive on February 5th.
Star Wars: Jedi Knights is the second new ongoing for the Marvel Comics, the series penned by Marc Guggenheim is set before The Phantom Menace and will follow the Jedi we know and love from the prequel trilogy. Each issue is set to follow a different Jedi duo, but an overarching threat will bind them all together. Jedi Knights #1 will arrive on March 5th.
A New Legacy is a one-shot comic celebrating 10 years of the new Marvel and Star Wars collaboration in comics. The issue will feature characters from way back in 2015 who fans may have forgotten about and will see their stories expanded or even wrapped up. Doctor Aphra, SCAR squadron, Valance, and more are expected to show up in the bumper issue. The one-shot issue arrives on January 29th.
6 years after its release The Rise of Skywalker will finally get its comic adaptation! The 5 issue series will bring us the movie in comic form, along with the potential for other views and expanded scenes not seen in the movie. The Rise of Skywalker #1 will arrive on February 26th.
Dark Horse will also continue its Star Wars collaboration, with several series set for release throughout the year. Hyperspace stories: The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents will be a 5 issue miniseries following The Bad Batch during the Clone Wars as they try and track down a separatist ghost agent who executed a heist on Coruscant. The first issue will be released on February 12th.
Hyperspace stories: Codebreaker will be a 4 issue miniseries following Poe Dameron shortly before the events of The Force Awakens as he is sent to investigate a piece of First Order tech that can decode resistance messages. The series is the first of The Force Awakens 10th anniversary celebrations and the first issue will be released April 9th.
Despite long delays by several months, the first of the Hyperspace stories graphic novels featuring Jedi and villains from across different eras will finally be released on March 4th, the first story will follow Qui-Gon Jinn as he uncovers the secrets of the mysterious Force cult, the Brotherhood of the Ninth Door.
Future news from a Galaxy Far, Far Away…
Star Wars Celebration returns this year, taking place in Japan. The 3-day event spanning 18-20th April will be fans’ best place for news on the future of Star Wars as a whole. We should get updates on The Mandalorian and Grogu movie as well Ahsoka season 2 and new announcements for future films and shows! There will also be plenty of other news in the world of books, merchandise, video games, and more and whilst plenty will only be shown to attendees of celebration I would expect all the announcements will be made readily available if nothing else.
Could we see a Mandalorian and Grogu trailer by the end of the year? Anything is possible, and Disney could want to advertise it in front of Avatar 3 in December. I could also speculate on a new animated show sometime towards the end of the year, as after Andor season 2 and Visions season 3. The Star Wars offerings on Disney+ look rather bare…
As mentioned at the start of the article, both The Force Awakens and Revenge of the Sith are celebrating big milestone anniversaries, so we could expect a lot to happen to celebrate this. Hopefully starting with the re-release of both films at the theater. There may also be waves of new toys and merchandise to commemorate the occasion! Free Comic Book Day also returns this May 3rd and along with two free Star Wars comics, we can expect other great Star Wars activities as it falls on the same weekend as May 4th.
It will be a great year for Star Wars and with a lot of these announcements only covering the first half of the year we could be in for even more!
