Coming hot off the screen in The Suicide Squad, Idris Elba has disclosed that he will be voicing “Knuckles” in the sequel to Sonic The Hedgehog. In the same announcement, we get a first look at his design and get a glimpse at his, well… knuckles. Check out the image via Idris Elba’s Twitter below…

At the end of the first movie, Tails made it through a portal into our world in search of his friend Sonic. Knuckles is an echidna and part of a clan (possibly even the one we see chasing Sonic at the beginning of the first movie) that guards the Master Emerald on an island. Because of this, he is reserved and not great at being social. Most importantly, he teams up with Sonic and Tails against Dr. Robotnik (portrayed by Jim Carrey in the first movie) and becomes a key ally for Sonic. Now with all 3 of the main characters from the popular video game series confirmed in the sequel, I just hope we get to see our favorite anti-hero, Shadow.
Ben Schwartz will continue to voice Sonic in the upcoming sequel which will also see the return of Jim Carrey as the villainous Dr. Robotnik. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is expected to release in theaters on April 8, 2022.
