[Note: while I am reviewing this item independently and honestly, it should be noted that I received the S800 4K Webcam for free from Maono for the purpose of this review.]

Maono’s Wave T5 packs some might power into a small package

Perhaps this statement might start to carbon-date me, but I’m always amazed by how far technology has come. Then again, when you grow up in the days of Walkmen and wired headphones, everything technological upgrades seem almost like magic. The Wave T5 is not much bigger than Apple Air Pods; however, it contains some of the best sound quality I’ve experienced from wireless microphones. Typically, when you have wireless anything running through Bluetooth, you risk losing quality for convenience.

For some, that loss might be worth the ease of capturing sound from anywhere, but sound and video quality always weigh heavy on my mind. With the Wave T5, you don’t have to sacrifice quality in the slightest, as there is studio-grade technology packed into the high-quality omnidirectional microphone. Boasting 80 decibels signal-to-noise ratio, with a 120-decibel maximum sound pressure level and 48kHz/24-bit audio format, it picks up your voice with ease, without every other sound in the room.

Part of that voice capture quality comes from the ENC chip, which uses a specific algorithm to target those with the microphone while separating out background noises. This makes editing a breeze, but little work is required as so much of it is done at the moment instead of requiring hours of work behind the scenes to make it sound better than mediocre.

Paired with all the bits and bobs inside the small casing, the Wave 5T also utilizes frequency-hopping technology, which allows audio transmission up to a thousand feet. This means that you can walk around, moving and adding energy to your videos without losing anything that you’re saying. On top of that, it has a thirty-hour battery life, ensuring that whatever content you’re recording, you’re always ready to go.

Sleek design and ease of use make this wireless microphone essential equipment

With so much going on inside the Wave T5, it’s also important to discuss how it looks and how easy it is to set up and use. Inside a carrying case, there are quite a few components, all essential for proper usage. The rechargeable case holds the two microphones and a camera receiver and takes up much of the space. All three pieces have a magnetic connection, snapping into place and lighting up with a red-light/green-light system to indicate whether it’s charged or not.

Also located in the larger carrying case are the charging cables and two microphone receivers, one with a Type-C connection and the other with a Lightning connection. To use the microphones, which are already paired in the factory and shouldn’t require additional pairing, you just click the receiver into the bottom of your phone and turn on all the appropriate pieces. And boom! With just a few clicks into place and a push of a few buttons, you’re on the go with high-quality audio at your fingertips!

Maono’s Wave T5 is worth the investment for content creators

I was thoroughly skeptical about the quality of the Wave T5 wireless microphones, as I wasn’t used to such high quality in something so much and transportable. That being said, I shouldn’t have questioned Maono’s work, as they once again prove that they know just what they’re doing when it comes to audio equipment. These wireless microphones sound like you’re in the studio, with crystal-clear audio regardless of your surroundings.

The only downside to the Wave T5 is the number of pieces outside the rechargeable case and microphones you must carry around. Granted, Maono does provide you with a carrying case; however, I wish that the receivers would have been built into the case as well, instead of being additional pieces. There are some versions of the Wave T5 without the camera receiver that do have the phone receiver located in the rechargeable case, so there is that option for those looking for it. Just keep in mind, if you’re looking for the top-of-the-line with all the pieces, you’ll have to remember your carrying case wherever you go.

That being said, if having to place everything in a carrying case to make sure you have studio-quality audio wherever you go, then truly Maono’s Wave T5 is well worth any cost you might pay.
