The Cosmic Circus Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

Share this:

One year ago today I launched The Cosmic Circus and my world may never be the same. I never expected to have so many wonderful people asking to write for me here, or following the site on Twitter, or reading it on a daily basis.

While The Cosmic Circus has grown tremendously over the past year, and I’m so proud of this site, it’s definitely been A LOT of work for me as the Owner/Editor-In-Chief. I’ve had to wear many hats here to build this dream and keep it afloat. This has not been very easy for me, with occasional setbacks, frustrations, or feelings of self-doubt. Not to mention, the hours and hours (and hours!) I’ve spent at the computer trying to make this site the best I can, learning along the way how to do what I need to do to improve it and keep building.

At times, this has all been a huge challenge for me, yes. But it’s been totally worth it. Most of all it has been worth it because, through this nerdy website journey, I’ve met some of the kindest, most generous, funny, thoughtful, and talented people in my life. I am very lucky to call them all my friends.

Please join me and some completely amazing people who have been contributing here, in celebrating 1 year of The Cosmic Circus

Alex Perez:

“Looking back at the 1 year anniversary of The Cosmic Circus, it has been an absolute thrill ride, to say the least. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected the joy that would come from writing for a site like this. The amazing people, the incredible reports and stories, and our fearless leader, Lizzie Hill, have truly made this into a wonderful adventure. As to where the next year will take us, who knows? What I hope is that I will be able to stand alongside this wonderful team through all of it.”

Anthony Flagg:

“Thanks to the past year at Cosmic Circus I’ve expanded myself as a writer and consumer. I’ve been able to screen and review many brilliant movies and series, shared a stroll through a Ren fest, and am about to embark on a new adventure: Comic Palooza here at home in Houston next month! Meanwhile, I’m slowly but surely getting a section of my life, cooking at home, incorporated into my love of media.

Ayla Ruby:

“A year ago I couldn’t have imagined what The Cosmic Circus would come to mean to me. I’m grateful to somehow be lucky enough to work with a team of such incredible, passionate, and kind people. Lizzie Hill has been a shining example that character and hard work does matter. She’s been a remarkable leader. I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished this year and am excited to see what the future holds.”

Brian Kitson:

“An article that I’m unbelievably proud of is the Moon Knight and mental health article. Being able to combine both my professional life and the new world of writing for a comic book website was never something I thought would happen. It was something I was unsure of at first, but with some encouragement from my Editor-In-Chief, it became one of my favorites. I look forward to including more of these types of articles in the future.

I’m also incredibly proud of the Macro Marvel series that fellow author Anthony Flagg and I wrote together, with some help initially from Nathan Miller. Exploring and proposing where the Marvel Cinematic Universe was headed from projects already announced was so much fun. It also helped to foster an unbreakable friendship with Anthony, someone who became like the brother I never had. I can’t wait to revisit these as we enter phase 5 and beyond with him and see if we can continue to examine the MCU’s future.”

Drew Reed:

“Over the past year at The Cosmic Circus, I have been a part of a wonderful team led by our fearless leader, Lizzie Hill. She has given us the privilege of expressing our thoughts, opinions, and excitement to a wide audience through the articles we write. From the very first article I wrote, there has not been a day where I haven’t loved being a part of this team. Everyone at The Cosmic Circus has become like a second family to me, and I cannot wait for another year of the fun and excitement of being on this crew. “

Emily Maack:

“I’m so grateful that I’ve gotten to join The Cosmic Circus in its first year. I’ve met so many amazing people and made so many new friends. I’m so happy that I’ve met a group of fans of all things nerdy like me. Being part of The Cosmic Circus team has given me the opportunity to write about all my favorite movies and shows. And being part of this team has also helped me become a better writer. I love collaborating with everyone here and I’m so proud of the success the site has had and I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for us.”

Luigi Parentela:

“A year has already passed since the launch of The Cosmic Circus and I am proud to be a (small) part of this fantastic site that has helped me not only to grow professionally but also to interface with international realities and to meet people all over the world. I wish Lizzie and all the TCC staff the best!”

Tucker Watkins:

“My time at The Cosmic Circus has been nothing short of life-changing. I’ve been given a platform to write articles about things that I love, and that’s priceless. But more than that, the environment writing at CC is so lovely and heartwarming. Lizzie has really cultivated a place of love that feels like family. I like to think everyone who follows CC can sense the same feeling coming from the articles we publish.

I’m excited for another year, and hopefully a thousand more after that. The article I’ve been most proud of is my review of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Not only was I given the opportunity to review one of my favorite films I’ve ever seen, but it was also my 100th article for Cosmic Circus. And the cherry on top of all of that was the fact that it went on to become our largest viewed review on the site. I seriously couldn’t thank Lizzie enough for the opportunity to do what I love.”

Uday Kataria:

“I’ve loved my first year at The Cosmic Circus! I’ve met some incredible people and it’s been a ton of fun breaking down every new superhero project with them. My highlight was probably the Multiverse of Madness podcast, which could’ve easily gone on for another hour.

And of course, I can’t forget getting to attend Motor City Comic Con as press, which was an unexpected surprise. I can’t wait to keep working and getting to know my fellow Cosmic Crew members!”

Vin:

The Cosmic Circus isn’t just a site, it’s an ethos. Ms. Lizzie Hill has assembled a team of smart, passionate, good people who are a joy to work with every day as we research, theorize, and debate the minutiae of the things we love with respect. Under Lizzie’s mentorship we’ve become not just better writers, but better people, and it is a privilege to be a part of this family.

I am so thankful for the platform Lizzie has given me to help share my theories, reviews, and love of comics with the world. Thanks to the site we’ve created a wonderful community over the past year, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead. Excelsior!”
