When WandaVision graced our screens in 2021, the show introduced the story of Wanda Maximoff and The Vision following the events of Avengers: Endgame. The series blended the styles of classic sitcoms and MCU storytelling to bring a fresh and innovative story to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision showcased many supporting characters that served as crucial to the main story. However, a true spotlight stealer amongst the supporting cast was Kathryn Hahn, who portrayed the nosy neighbor, Agnes, later to be revealed as the main antagonist, Agatha Harkness.

Agatha became a popular character amongst the MCU fanbase, so much so that later that year, a spin-off based on the character was announced to be in development, titled Agatha: Coven of Chaos. With the show coming up for release soon, fans wonder how the series will play out on Disney+ and whether or not it will answer some mysteries regarding Agatha’s character and history. And in today’s article, we’ll be revealing how one character that Marvel fans have been theorizing about his appearance since WandaVision will finally make his appearance in Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

The introduction of Nicholas Scratch

The Cosmic Circus can exclusively share via our sources that Nicholas Scratch will appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Nicholas Scratch is the son of Agatha Harkness in Marvel Comics, and many fans have been theorizing about his appearance in the MCU since WandaVision. While many have pointed the finger at Agatha’s rabbit, Señor Scratchy, as the main culprit, we can confirm that the rabbit is not Nicholas Scratch but rather an entirely different demonic entity she obtained early on before her appearance in WandaVision. How she came to obtain this entity (and other trinkets) will also be explored in Coven of Chaos, according to sources.

As for how Nicholas Scratch will come into play during Coven of Chaos, details will be withheld for now, as revealing them would unravel massive spoilers for the upcoming show. In the comics, Nicholas was Agatha’s son and an unspecified resident of New Salem. While that resident’s identity is a mystery in the comics, the show will play coy with that notion as the show will tie Nicholas Scratch to not just one mother but two.

“A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing”

We recently teased a possible relationship between Agatha Harkness and Aubrey Plaza’s character  on Twitter, and we can share here that the show will indeed reveal how their relationship came to be and how Agatha’s decisions in 1693 affected their relationship. This will be a massive part of Plaza’s character’s motivation in Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Aubrey Plaza’s character in Coven of Chaos

Speaking on Aubrey Plaza, her character is one of the most curious mysteries going into Coven of Chaos. Many fans wonder what character she will portray in the upcoming show and whether or not she has comic book origins. While we’ll save details on who she is for another date, sources have confirmed to The Cosmic Circus that Aubrey Plaza’s character will mirror what Emilia Clarke’s Gi’Ah was to Secret Invasion. Plaza will be playing an original character in the MCU. However, that does not mean her character won’t have roots tied to Marvel Comics. As for her origins in the MCU, expect her character to date way back to the earliest days of the cinematic universe.

Could Agatha: Coven of Chaos be further delayed?

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to premiere at some point next year on Disney+. The show will pick up following the events of the Westview Incident and serve as a sort of second season to WandaVision. However, it is essential to note that it’s possible that more delays to the MCU slate will occur the longer the WGA and Sag-AFTRA strikes go on. That being said we’ll get this show eventually, and it is essential to acknowledge that without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the films and shows we’re covering here wouldn’t exist.
